2. Scope and applicable rules

These Terms apply to accommodation enquiries submitted through the Alma Mater Hostel website and to accommodation contracts concluded on their basis, unless the parties agree otherwise in writing.

The individual written offer or confirmation, these Terms, the House Rules and the relevant Hungarian legislation together form the contractual framework. An individually agreed term prevails over these general terms.

3. Booking enquiries

The Guest must provide accurate contact details, dates, number of guests and the requested apartment type. The Service Provider may request further information reasonably necessary to prepare an offer.

Information on the website is indicative and does not guarantee availability. An automatically displayed or emailed technical acknowledgement only confirms receipt of the enquiry.

4. Contract formation

After checking availability, the Service Provider sends or communicates an individual offer containing the essential terms, including the dates, apartment type, final price, payment arrangements and any cancellation conditions.

The accommodation contract is concluded only when both parties expressly accept these essential terms in writing or in another verifiable manner. Until then, either party may discontinue the discussion without a contractual penalty.

The language of the contract is Hungarian unless the parties expressly agree otherwise. The contract is not a written contract filed by the website and is not governed by a code of conduct.

5. Prices, tourist tax and payment

The Rates page shows the generally applicable gross rates. The price stated in the accepted individual offer or confirmation is decisive. Rates include VAT but do not include the local tourist tax, where applicable.

Unless the individual confirmation provides otherwise, payment is made on arrival by bank card. Cash and vouchers are not accepted. The Guest receives the accounting document required by law.

Discounts are subject to eligibility and supporting documents and cannot be combined unless expressly stated otherwise.

6. Arrival, departure and use of the accommodation

Arrival and departure times are stated in the individual confirmation. Early arrival or late departure is available only by prior agreement and subject to capacity.

Only registered guests may use the accommodation. The Guest must comply with the House Rules, fire-safety and accident-prevention requirements, protect the building and its furnishings, and follow reasonable staff instructions.

The Guest is responsible for damage caused by the Guest or persons for whom the Guest is responsible. Smoking is prohibited inside the buildings. Visitors, access cards and on-site conduct are governed by the House Rules.

7. Changes, cancellation and failure to arrive

Any change or cancellation must be communicated without delay using the contact details above. The cancellation deadline and any cancellation or no-show charge stated in the individual offer and accepted by the Guest apply. If no such condition was agreed, no cancellation charge may be imposed.

For accommodation booked for a specific date or period, consumers do not have the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal under Section 29(1)(l) of Hungarian Government Decree 45/2014 (II. 26). This does not affect any more favourable contractual cancellation right.

If the Service Provider cannot perform for a reason within its control, it will offer an equivalent alternative where reasonably possible or refund any amount paid for the unprovided service.

8. Complaints and dispute resolution

Complaints may be submitted in person at the Hostel, by post to the Service Provider, or by email to szallas@gfe.hu. Written consumer complaints are answered in writing within 30 days.

If a consumer dispute is not resolved directly, the consumer may contact the competent consumer-protection authority or a regional conciliation body. The official list and contact details of conciliation bodies are available on the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry website.

9. Liability and website content

The Service Provider is liable in accordance with mandatory Hungarian law. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

The Service Provider makes reasonable efforts to keep website information accurate. A manifest typographical or technical error does not create a right to an obviously incorrect price or service; the correct information will be communicated before the contract is concluded.

Website text, photographs, graphics and design may be protected by copyright. They may not be reproduced or commercially used without permission, except where permitted by law.

10. Data protection and final provisions

Personal data is processed in accordance with the Privacy Notice. Hungarian law applies to matters not regulated by these Terms, without depriving consumers of any mandatory protection afforded by the law of their habitual residence.

The Service Provider may amend these Terms prospectively. The version accepted when the contract is concluded applies to that booking.
